2D-DOC / VDS API
Verify 2D-DOC and VDS barcodes, and compare with source documents
The 2D-DOC / VDS API verifies security barcodes found on official documents.
- 2D-DOC: DataMatrix barcodes on French documents (identity cards, tax notices, utility bills, etc.), specified by ANTS under the AFNOR XP Z42-105 standard
- VDS (Visible Digital Seal): ISO 22376 barcodes, the international evolution of 2D-DOC used on official documents
Capabilities
- Verify a barcode: parse, validate the signature, and extract structured data
- Scan a document: detect and read barcodes from PDF or image files
- Compare: verify a barcode and cross-reference its data against the source document text

All endpoints require an API key (publishable or secret).
Supported document types
2D-DOC barcodes are found on many French documents: identity cards, tax notices, utility bills, pay slips, vehicle documents, and more. The spec defines 58 document types across 17 categories, of which 16 include address data.
